The number of coronavirus infections is rising sharply in the Netherlands. Elsewhere in the world, Israel has gone into lockdown again and more and more places for holidaymakers are colouring orange. There are 940,000 coronadalities worldwide. Follow the latest corona-news in this live blog.

The number of people worldwide diagnosed with the coronavirus passed 30 million on Thursday. That figure is based on the database of the American University Johns Hopkins.

It is in the United States that most of the infections have been detected. The number there is more than 6.6 million. The number is also rising sharply in India. At least 5.1 million people have now tested positive here. Brazil is following with 4.4 million detected coronavirus cases. Russia occupies fourth place with more than 1 million infections. Peru, Colombia, Mexico, South Africa, Spain and Argentina are also in the top ten.

The global death toll from Covid-19 exceeded 900 000 last Wednesday. According to the University of Baltimore, there are now more than 942,000. Over 197,000 deaths have been recorded in the US, followed by Brazil (over 134,000), India (over 83,000), Mexico (72,000), the United Kingdom (almost 42,000) and Italy (almost 36,000).
