The knee surgery Virgil van Dijk had to undergo was successful. The defender of Liverpool is now focusing on his recovery. Thats what his club reports Friday afternoon on Twitter.
Now that the first step towards recovery has been taken, the question arises in Liverpool – and the Netherlands – when Van Dijk will return to the field. However, the club can not yet give an indication of how long the rehabilitation process will last. Van Dijk is expected to wait for months for his return.
In mid-October, Van Dijk was severely injured to his knee. The captain of Orange was crushed by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford during the Merseyside Derby. In that action, Van Dijk tore his anterior cruciate ligament.
“ I will do everything I can to return as soon as possible”, said Van Dijk himself earlier. “I look at my rehabilitation process from day to day, and my focus is entirely on that. I will return.”
