Atletico Madrid has given Barcelona and Real Madrid a glimmer of hope in the battle for the Spanish title. The team of Diego Simeone gave a head start against Celta de Vigo just before time: 2-2
the visitors from Vigo quickly got a head start in the Wanda Metropolitano. Santi Mina separated himself from the Athletico defenders on a front of Hugo Mallo and headed the 0-1 along Jan Oblak.
The answer came shortly before and shortly after rest from Atletico, and who other than Luis Suarez was the shooter. He matched Marcos Llorente and slipped into the 2-1 after a tremendous advance by Renan Lodi. For a long time that seemed to be the winning goal, but Facundo Ferreyra worked in the 2-2 shortly before the end, because Stefan Savic made a first move.
Due to the misstep, Atletico ran further on the pursuers, but not as much as hoped. Instead of the hoped ten, the gap to Barcelona and Real is now eight points. Atletico still has a game to catch up.
