Lukaku startled by Eriksen news: ‘A lot of tears’

Romelu Lukaku helped Belgium a 3-0 win against Russia with two goals. After his first hit, he walked towards the camera to put his team mate Christian Eriksen a heart under the belt: afterwards, the all-time top scorer of The Red Devils admitted that he had a hard time.
Eriksen collapsed during Denmarkโ€”Finland and had to be resuscitated. The football world held its breath and Lukaku also waited for news in excitement. โ€œIm happy with the victory, but with my head Im with Eriksen,โ€ Lukaku responded to Sporza after his match.
Lukaku had also seen the shocking images of Eriksen and that did not leave him untouched. โ€œI had a lot of tears before the game. It was hard to focus on me. That was not only for me, but also for Jan, Toby and Nacer (Vertonghen, Alderweireld and Chadli, ex-team mates of Eriksen with Ajax and Tottenham Hotspur, ed.).โ€
Just before his interview, Lukaku heard that Eriksen had come to know again. The preliminary EK top scorer had already sent a message to his Danish buddy and hoped he would get a response soon. โ€œBut of course he can take his time. He has two little kids. They need him. I know its selfish, but we, his team mates, need him too.โ€
