Madueke explains transformation by ‘mindset’: “Playing for the team”

Noni Madueke was again the big man at PSV Tuesday night, who also defeated FC Midtjylland with big numbers after Galatasaray. The nineteen-year-old Englishman rattled emphatically at the gate last season, but seems to be definitively breaking.
In mid-May, Madueke had to sit on the couch against FC Utrecht for ninety minutes, because he was ‘not ready to play’ according to trainer Roger Schmidt. During the summer break, Madueke was linked to a transfer if he wasn‘t going to be a base player at PSV, but now the world looks very different. The attacker points to his ‘mindset‘ in conversation with RTL7. Play for the team. And knowing that: When I do that, my individual qualities come up. That’s it.
Madueke‘s beautiful opening strike was the crowning of the work: the doe-pointer went down when he wanted to celebrate the fans and was able to laugh at it afterwards. Let’s look back… , says Madueke. But I didn‘t feel anything, I just wanted to be as close to the fans as possible. The atmosphere in the swirling Philips Stadium has given the Londoner wings. That’s what I play for, to entertain them. And when I hear them scare my name, that‘s a great feeling.

Noni Madueke is thrilled after PSV’s convincing victory and his beautiful goal 🥳 Great team performance from start to finish! #UCL #PSVMID
