On Tuesday afternoon a 37-year-old man from Rotterdam died during the removal of an oil bulb stall at the Koemarkt in Schiedam. The victim was trapped under the stall.
Whether the man was the owner of the stall, the police can not tell yet. “It is clear that there was no collision before the accident, but how it could have happened is being investigated”, says a police spokesman. The investigation has been handed over to the Inspectorate SZW, the former Labour Inspectorate.
Several emergency services, including a trauma helicopter, were pulled out to the Koemarkt, where the accident was. “An attempt has been made to resuscitate the victim, but no longer benefits,” reports the police.
The oil bulb stall has been on the Koemarkt for several years, after having been at the roundabout near the Nieuwe Haven for many years.
