In Amsterdam, a man died last night after being arrested earlier that evening in the west of the city
The police had been called because the man was harassing people in a restaurant. When the policemen arrived, he showed confused behaviour, according to the police, after which he started fighting with the policemen. One policeman was injured. After his arrest, the man broke his handcuffs
The man subsequently became unwell at a cell complex in Amsterdam-West, reports the police on Twitter. He was immediately taken to hospital, where an attempt was made to resuscitate him
It is not clear what the man died of. The Rijksrecherche has started an investigation and as long as the investigation is going on the police will make no further announcements.
