The man who drove his car into a group of young people in Deventer on Saturday evening was released. According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office there are insufficient indications that he deliberately ran into them. However, he is still suspected of dangerous driving and joyriding.
According to witnesses, the man from Romania drove into the group at high speed on a business park along the A1 motorway in Deventer. He hit scooters, a number of youngsters and at least two other cars, where according to the police the airbags came out because of the bang.
Two people were taken to the hospital, other young people could be helped by ambulance staff.
The man was under the influence of drugs at the time of the collision. On Sunday the police reported that there were no indications that he was under the influence of alcohol.
