Manchester City fan off ventilator: ‘But he suffered brain damage’

The Belgian Manchester City supporter who was attacked against Club Brugge on Tuesday night after the Champions League away game does not need to be artificially ventilated, but has suffered brain damage. That‘s what his son reports in a Facebook post.
The 63-year-old City fan from Ninove was attacked by some Club Brugge fans at a parking lot near Drongen, after seeing Manchester City win 1-5 from the Belgian champion.
In a message from Blue Moon Belgium, an official supporters club that allows Belgian fans to watch Manchester City home and away games, his son gives an update on his condition. โ€œUncle Guido is no longer ventilated, but he has suffered brain damage. The next hours/days will show how serious the consequences will be. His excellent physical condition helps his progress in a positive sense.โ€
The man’
s supporters club and family thank everyone for the support they received over the past few days. โ€œWe would like to thank everyone for the massive reports of support both in Belgium and beyond.โ€
