Shakhtar Donetsk defender Marlon is not going to PSV, but the Brazilian seems to be making a transfer after all. According to Fabrizio Romano, he is well on his way to the ambitious AC Monza.
More than two weeks ago, it became clear that PSV was betting on the arrival of Marlon. Due to the war in Ukraine, the stopper is allowed to suspend his contract and temporarily play football elsewhere. Nevertheless, the PSV failed to attract Marlon. The former youth international will be playing on rent at Serie A PhD student Monza this season.
According to Romano, the clubs agree on the rental deal. If PSV wants to bring in another defender, it will therefore have to move forward. Eindhoven residents were already looking for contact with Micky van de Ven, but a transfer is not obvious.
Monza, headed by former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, is emphatically moving into the transfer market this summer. Marlon‘s new club stunted with the arrival of Italian international Matteo Pessina, while players like Paolo Dybala and Mauro Icardo were also linked to Monza.
Serie A side Monza are set to sign former Barça centre back Marlon on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk. There’s full agreement in place – PSV were also interested. 🚨🇧🇷 #transfersNot just Marlon leavinrg Shakhtar, as Dodô is set to join Fiorentina on permanent deal for €14.5m fee. pic.twitter.com/YGW50xI5eo
