Max shows himself directly at PSV with assist in practice match

With 14 goals and 20 assists, PSV-acquisition Philipp Max showed to be more than just a defender the past three seasons. And in his first (practice) game on behalf of the Eindhovenmers, against Viktoria Köln (1-1), the German underscored his status of attacking strong leftback once again.

Just before half time Max went behind the ball at a corner kick from PSV. Initially without success, but through a defender from Viktoria Köln the ball ended up in front of his left foot again. This time he did find a team-mate, Nick Viergever, who tapped Max’ low cross in front of the 1-0 goal.

In the end, that moment turned out not to be enough for the victory. Immediately after the break the newly fallen Jeroen Zoet had no answer to a free kick by Ernesto Carratala Jiménez right through the middle: 1-1.

PSV had to compete against Viktoria Köln, who is on the third German level, without (youth) internationals Mohamed Ihattaren, Jordan Teze, Cody Gakpo and Yvon Mvogo. Denzel Dumfries was also missing, to be with his high-pregnant wife. For that reason, Dumfries also signed up for the Interland of Orange against Poland.
