Max Verstappen set the second fastest time during the third and final free practice for the Grand Prix of Tuscany. Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas was again the fastest of the field.
The top three hardly gave in to each other at Mugello. Bottas rushed to a time of 1.16,530. Verstappen was only seventeen thousandths of a second slower than the Finn, who had also been the fastest during the first sessions. The Dutchman made up for a lot of time in the third sector. Lewis Hamilton scored the third fastest time and was also within a tenth of Bottas.
So far Verstappen is having a great time at Mugello, where a Formula 1 race is being held for the first time. The Red Bull driver enjoys – like many colleagues – the track with the fast corners. Qualifying will take place on Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
Williams driver George Russell lost precious time. He only drove one lap during the third practice session, due to braking problems. Verstappens team mate Alexander Albon scored the eighth fastest time on the harder medium band. Ferrari got stuck on places seven (Charles Leclerc) and eighteen (Sebastian Vettel).
