Max Verstappen: It cant get any worse than in Monza

Max Verstappen looks ahead as positively as possible to the Grand Prix of Tuscany at the circuit of Mugello, where a Formula 1 race will be held for the first time. It can’t get any worse than in Monza, the Red Bull driver said.

The Limburg rider is referring to his breakaway in Italy last Sunday, in a weekend in which the RB16 already had a lot of problems. The throwout was due to an overheated Honda engine.

This is of course a different circuit, but I am quite confident that we can have another positive weekend here, said Verstappen. That we can come back to a reasonably good position, behind Mercedes

Verstappen never drove at Mugello, until a couple of weeks ago. Then he explored the circuit in a GT3 car. I think that’s the best way to get to know a circuit. Better than on a simulator. Of course this was in a slower car, but it was still okay. It might give me a small lead, although there are some drivers who have driven here in the past. Friday is also going to be an important day. During the training sessions you will learn even more and you will see immediately where you stand with the car
