‘Mega-loss football clubs in Serie A’

The 20 football clubs in Serie A have suffered a record loss of 770 million euros over the past season. This estimate makes the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport on the basis of research.

The football season 2019-2020 in Italy was shut down due to the coronapandemic and was only resumed and played out at the end of June. For most clubs, the financial year ended at the end of June around the time when the competition, without spectators in the stadiums, was resumed.

La Gazzetta came to the total amount on the basis of research into โ€œthe accounts already published and the unofficial financial information obtained from the other clubsโ€. Juventus announced a deficit of 89.7 million euros for the financial year ending 30 June 2020. AC Milan reported a deficit of 195 million euros and AS Roma also of around 200 million euros. According to the newspaper, Inter has to see a deficit of around EUR 100 million at the end of November.
