Sports director of Jumbo-Visma (and team leader in the race) Merijn Zeeman is devastated that he has been expelled from the Tour de France. This happened after ‘intimidation, hand touches and incorrect behaviour towards the UCI commissioners in the race,’ was read in the daily communiqué.
“I did not behave correctly verbally towards a UCI commissioner who wanted to do a bike check on the bike of our leader Primoz”, admits the team leader of watchdog carrier Primoz Roglic on Twitter. “I got angry because the Commissioner wanted to disassemble the bracket of Primoz’s bike on his own
Sailor continues: “Primoz’s bike was damaged during this disassembly. Despite this incident, I should have remained calm and treated the UCI Commissioner with respect. I regret that I did not do this
“Moreover, following this incident, I immediately apologised to the UCI Commissioner concerned, who also accepted my apology. I am devastated, but our yellow dream lives on,” said Zeeman.
