German Chancellor Angela Merkel has alluded to a four-step plan to complete the lockdown. She described that at a meeting of her CDU party as “four opening steps without yo-yo effect”, reports the newspaper Bild, who spoke with participants.
Merkel would not have gone into detail about the plan to reopen the country. A working group with her close associate Helge Braun and his colleagues from the Länder will discuss the subject this week. They are preparing the next summit between Merkel and regional leaders, which is due to take place in early March.
Germanys been in a lockdown for months. That will last until March 7. In the meantime, the authorities have already begun to relax measures. Schools and hardware stores opened in some places on Monday and from next month hairdressers in Germany will be able to get back to work.
