FC Barcelona also passed the second test in preparation for the new season. In an empty Camp Nou Girona was beaten in a businesslike manner. It became 3-1.
Barcelona already won last Sunday with the same figures from Nástic. Against Girona, coach Ronald Koeman‘s team stood for the second test. Frenkie de Jong had a base place in Barcelona, as did Sergio Busquets, Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Philippe Coutinho.
Barcelona showed at times the flashy game that has impressed the team in recent years. This could be seen in the 1-0 of Philippe Coutinho, who went over several discs. Antoine Griezmann, Messi and Trincão combined tightly, after which Coutinho was allowed to slide the ball in. The attention was focused on Messi, who stabbed Trincão away. Moments later Messi made the 2-0 with his chocolate leg, a beautiful shot in the cross.
The match against Girona was Messi’s match. Shortly after Girona‘s connecting goal, the Argentinean set the match at 3-1. Both teams didn’t have to do that anymore and took some throttle back. Koeman saw reason to change and brought the only seventeen-year-old Pedri.
Barcelona will play next Saturday against Elche for the Trofeu Juan Gamper.
