After two consecutive defeats, darter Michael van Gerwen has managed to win again in the Premier League. Against the Englishman Nathan Aspinall, Mighty Mike managed to turn a 4-1 deficit Friday evening into an 8-6 victory.
This result puts Van Gerwen in second place in the standings behind Glen Durrant.
Thursday evening in Milton Keynes, Gary Anderson proved to be too strong for the Dutch defending champion. A day earlier Durrant also won from Van Gerwen. The Brabander had started the special six-day Premier League games Tuesday with a victory over Rob Cross.
“I’m not in my best shape”, said Van Gerwen at RTL7 after his winning match against Aspinall. “But to fight me back like that does give me satisfaction. I don’t play my best game, but I do a few good things at the right time”
The darts play six nights in a row at Milton Keynes. Next week four more rounds are scheduled in the Marshall Arena. The top 4 of the rankings will qualify for the final round in London.
