Michael van Gerwen hopes for all support from the living rooms on Sunday (when he continues the World Darts Championships against Ricky Evans), but warns his fans of people who try to scam the place.
Through his Twitter account, Van Gerwen shares a photo of an ad that tempts fans to buy a Van Gerwen t-shirt with a signature of him printed in addition to his image. “These are not my hands,” writes Mighty Mike, referring to the hands holding the shirt.
“ Bad people are trying to benefit from my fans,” writes Van Gerwen. “These shirts are not real, do not pay for this!”, warns the Brabander, who is forced to spend the holidays at his hotel in London. Earlier on Christmas Day Van Gerwen wished his followers a happy holiday, with a photo of him and Vincent van der Voort, who is also active at the World Cup.
Gerwen shows that the Dutch enclave is making the best of it in a photo on which he is working on the Christmas dinner for him, Van der Voort and Dirk van Duijvenbode. “Gordon Ramsay, be careful!”, tweets Van Gerwen.
So Mighty Mike will be back in action against Evans on Sunday night, while in the afternoon Jermaine Wattimena will compete with Dimitri van den Bergh. On Monday afternoon Van Duijvenbode then plays against Adam Hunt and Van der Voort crosses swords with Nathan Aspinall.
