Midfielder (19) leaves Feyenoord: ‘September I start studying medicine’

Splinter de Mooij has decided to leave Feyenoord. The nineteen-year-old midfielder will focus entirely on his education as a doctor and he cannot combine that with a career in paid football.
De Mooij has been playing in Feyenoords youth training since 2013, where he signed a three-year contract in 2018. It was a dream come true for the young midfielder. Three years later, however, he decides to say goodbye to the football world and to focus entirely on a career as a doctor.
After seven great years at Feyenoord I told Feyenoord today that I will leave the club to make my second dream come true, namely to become a doctor, says De Mooij via Instagram. In September of this year I will start my studies in medicine.
De Mooij played his matches for Feyenoord O21, which this season was hardly allowed to play competitive duels because of the outbreak of the coronavirus.
