Pupils should take into account that due to the coronacrisis they will stay in this school year. In the CCEit Radio 1 News, Education Minister Slob said that there is a delay in study progress at all levels.
“ For a while, we had the idea that we would solve the backlog in this course year. But I don‘t think that’s real anymore.” That is why, according to the Minister, we need to look at how these delays can be overcome. If necessary, in several years.
Slob said children shouldn‘t be the victims of the crisis. “Because there is a lot of stress in children right now. If you have the idea that everything has to be finished before the summer, then in some situations it is not real. That’s a pressure you shouldn‘t put on children,” Slob said.
On the central final examinations in secondary education, the Minister said that there will be more clarity next week. The school domes are in consultation.
Earlier, Slob said that as far as he is concerned, the exams should continue this year. To make this possible, the minister has already given schools more time and space for the school exams.
“ But we are now looking to see if anything additional is needed,” he said. Slob: “We have to look very focused on each student: what do we help them with? Otherwise, they may run into problems at a later stage. So we need to see what’s responsible.”
