At the Catshuis in The Hague, members of the cabinet again consult with experts about the coronacrisis. This concerns the question of whether the lockdown, which has been in force since mid-December, should be extended.
Among other things, schools and non-essential shops are closed, the schools until 18 January and the shops until 20 January. Since contamination rates are still high, several experts have argued for the extension of the measures.
Members of the Cabinet did not want to anticipate too much what is going to happen last week, but were not too optimistic about possible eases. Many insiders in The Hague note that the measures will be extended for at least two weeks.
There will be more consulting in the next few days. On Tuesday evening there is a press conference between Rutte and Minister De Jonge van Health.
