The Kingdom of Morocco, through its ambassador to Spain, Karima Benyaich, condemned “with the utmost firmness” the criminal and vandal acts targeting its consulate in Valencia.
“We followed this morning, the criminal and irresponsible actions that the polisario has commissioned through a handful of criminals who hung what I would simply call a tea towel at the premises of the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Valencia instead of the national flag,” Mrs. Benyaich told the press Sunday.
“Following this cowardly and abject act, the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Valencia immediately proceeded to return the national flag,” said Benyaich.
“As Ambassador of His Majesty the King to Spain, I would like to express our indignation, condemning with the utmost firmness these acts of vandalism and violence, which, like what happened in El Guerguarat, confirms the mafia and out-of-law character of its sponsors.”
Ms Benyaich wished to recall that “these deliberate and absolutely unacceptable acts follow the various provocative appeals launched this week by the pseudo representatives of the polisario, calling on her supporters to protest in front of all Moroccan representations in Europe”.
At the same time, added Mrs Benyaich, the Kingdom of Morocco “takes note of the condemnation of the Spanish authorities who considered these acts illegal and not in conformity with international law and the commitment of the Spanish Government to no longer allow such acts which only confirm the criminal character of these militias”.
Morocco “also takes note of the measures that will be taken by the Spanish authorities to ensure respect for the integrity and inviolability of our diplomatic and consular missions in Spain”, noted Benyaich.
The Moroccan diplomat stressed that “this umpteenth provocation only translates the mafia methods of the polisario, outside the scope of the law, because of their eminently violent character”.
This provocation, she stressed, “once again expresses the fleeing forward of the polisario in the current context and recalls the very nature of this separatist criminal and out-of-law organization that constantly calls on its supporters to commit acts of violence and vandalism wherever it may be”.
Ms. Benyaich also stressed that all the officials of the Embassy of the Kingdom and the 12 Consulates General, “reiterate our unwavering commitment and unfailing loyalty to the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, May God Glorify Him, as well as our permanent mobilization for the defense of the sovereignty of the Fatherland and of our territorial integrity”.
