Feyenoord captain Steven Berghuis has said a kind of sorry after his red card in the cup match against sc Heerenveen. After 66 minutes, the left leg received his second yellow card at the Abe Lenstra Stadium and saw a 1-3 head start for Feyenoord turned into a 4-3 defeat.
Afterwards, Berghuis appeared in front of the ESPN microphone and put on the penitent dress. “Youre actually sitting on roses. Then I make that tackle”, he referred to the offense he made against Rami Kaib, with all yellow in his pocket. “Gives him (arbitrator Siemen Mulder, red.) yellow. Is just a stupid moment of mine,” says Berghuis. “I think: I just got it with that tackle. Is not a tackle to tackle him, but to play the ball.”
Feyenoord then gave it away completely in the final phase and threw away his last chance at a grand prize. “I do, of course, charge myself. As a team, we miss a huge chance to win a semifinals. And that starts with me…”
Afterwards, it was quiet for a long time in the visitors dressing room of the Abe Lenstra Stadium. “I kind of said sorry. Not that it would help them very much… Its what it is, just a heavy sour apple this.”
