Movistar selects routine rider Valverde, who will ride his thirteenth Tour

The Spaniards Marc Soler, Enric Mas and Alejandro Valverde are the leaders at Movistar for the Tour de France, which starts on Saturday in Nice.

The 40-year-old Valverde starts his thirteenth Tour de France. He experienced his best Tour in 2015 when the Spaniard finished third on the podium and wrote four stages to his name. Valverde won one big round: the Tour of Spain in 2009.

The 25-year-old Mas rode one Tour so far and in the Vuelta of 2018 he finished second. For the 26-year-old Soler it will be his third Tour-start.

The Movistar team also consists of the Spanish JosΓ© Joaquin Rojas, Carlos Verona, Imanol Erviti, the Italian Dario Cataldo and the Portuguese Nelson Oliveira.
