New proposal: a library for each school

At every school in the Netherlands you should be able to borrow nice books from now on. Various educational, cultural and youth organisations make this appeal to the Minister of Education. They think every school should have its own library.

Some schools already have that, but not all of them. If a school has a lot of fun books, children will pick up a book more often, the experts hope. And if children read more often, they also get better at it.

Read less well

This is important, because research shows that Dutch children are less and less able to read. Also, many children do not like reading. The organisations are concerned about that.

What do you think of that plan? Can you pick a book faster if your school has its own library? Respond to our statement!
