No doubt who’s the hero at Bayern: “Neuer was simply unbelievable

With some nice and important rescues, Manuel Neuer had an important share in the victory of Bayern Munich in the final of the Champions League on Sunday evening.

The 1-0 victory of the Germans over Paris Saint-Germain was, according to former top goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, mainly due to the German goalkeeper. Schmeichel himself won the Champions League with Manchester United in 1999 by defeating Bayern in the final game.

“Neuer was simply unbelievable”, said the Dane, who works as an analyst for the American TV channel CBS. “Bayern wouldn’t have won this tournament with any other goalkeeper.”

Good and fun team

Neuer himself especially praised his teammates. “We deserved it, but it’s also a dream come true. I’ve never played in such a good and fun team before.”

Serge Gnabry concurred with the words of his captain. “This team’s team spirit is great. We keep fighting for each other and we have a strong bond. Hopefully we can build on that and win more prizes.”

Coman: ‘Feel the sorrow of all of Paris’

Look below at the reactions of Bayern trainer Flick, matchwinner Coman and PSG coach Tuchel:

“That goal gave me an indescribable feeling, but I also felt the sadness of the whole of Paris. They’ve had a great season”, said Coman, who joined PSG at the age of eight

“Of course I’ll give myself one hundred percent for Bayern. But I’d be lying if I said I didn’t care when I looked at all those sad PSG players.”

Arjen Robben congratulated his former teammates on the win:

On the side of PSG the hangover was big, but trainer Thomas Tuchel said he stepped in as a proud man of the field.

“We have shown over the last few weeks that we have everything we need to grab every title. In football, sometimes you have to be lucky. I’m convinced that if we’d scored first, we’d have won 1-0.”

“We won four titles and unjustly lost the Champions League final. I’ll sleep badly tonight, it’s hard to talk about it, but from tomorrow we’ll start again. We’ve put down something beautiful and grand for the club.”
