Noppert and Van der Voort stunt on World Matchplay

Vincent van der Voort and Danny Noppert started the World Matchplay with a great victory.

Van der Voort defeated Dave Chisnall 10-6, after which Noppert also triumphed later that evening. De Fries stunted by throwing Gerwyn Price home with 10-7. Earlier Michael van Gerwen also qualified for the eighth finals of the World Matchplay, Jeffrey de Zwaan and Jermaine Wattimena were eliminated.

Van der Voort can do good business in Milton Keynes in view of the world ranking, on which he is 33rd, because two years ago he was not in action at the World Matchplay. Against Chisnall, the match went in all directions. Van der Voort was 3-0 ahead, then 3-4 and 5-6 behind. With a sublime final phase of five legs won in a row, Fast Vinnie drew the match to himself.

Van Gerwen

He finished on an average of 98.95 points. Chisnall got stuck at 94.20. Van der Voort plays his next match against Daryl Gurney, who was too strong for Ricky Evans at 10-5. Van Gerwen will play in the eighth final on Tuesday against Australian Simon Whitlock. Titleholder Rob Cross from England already lost in the first round to the German Gabriel Clemens.

Noppert fell behind against Price at first, but then made it right and didnt give up the game. Through 3-1, 4-2, 7-4 and a 9-6 lead, the Frisian won the match with 10-7. Noppert played in the eighth final against Adrian Lewis, who eliminated Steve Beaton.
