Number of new infections falls below 5000

At the RIVM, 4822 new confirmed coronavirus infections were reported until 10:00 this morning. Thats 784 less than yesterday. It is also the lowest number since December 1. On 12 January, the number of new infections fell below 5000.

Last week, an average of 5630 people were tested positive. On average, the number of positive tests decreases.

2434 coronapatics in hospital

In the hospitals, the occupation increased. There are now 2434 people with corona in hospital (yesterday: 2384), 690 of whom are in the ICU (yesterday: 676), reports the National Coordination Centre Patient Distribution (LCPS).

59 deceased covid patients

59 deceased covid patients were reported at RIVM. In the last seven days, the RIVM recorded an average of 94 deaths a day, compared with 105 deaths a day a week earlier.

How the number of deaths develops depends partly on the number of infections in nursing homes. There are now 810 nursing homes where at least one coronavirus infection has been detected in the last two weeks. A week ago, there were 846, and at the height of the first corona wave, on April 15, there were 828 nursing homes with at least one infection.
