One United defender is not the other: Lindelöf tackelt bag thief

Where one half of Manchester United’s central defense duo, Harry Maguire, showed his worst side on holiday, Victor Lindelöf shows that one United defender is not the other. Lindelöf prevented an elderly woman from being robbed of her handbag.

Police is grateful

The police thank “a man who was in the neighbourhood” for a “quick and sensible intervention to retrieve the woman’s property”, without mentioning Lindelöf by name. However, British media report that Manchester United has confirmed that it is the defender.

Lindelöf has been playing at Manchester United since 2017, which took him over from Benfica at the time. The Swede is usually base player at Old Trafford.

The legal process in Greece against Manchester United’s captain Harry Maguire starts today. The 27-year-old defender is assisted at the Syros courthouse by top Greek lawyer Alexis Anagnostakis. Maguire is not obliged to attend the hearing himself. He has already officially declared himself innocent.

Maguire was allowed to leave the cell on Saturday after he was arrested on the holiday island of Mykonos on Thursday. He had ended up in a pub brawl. Officers tried to separate the two fighting groups, after which three men turned against the police. The three men, among them probably Maguire, would have dealt heavy blows to the officers on duty.
