Virgil van Dijk looks back at the past international period with a good feeling. The Dutch team won Denmark (4-2) and made a loss against Germany (1-1).
Whether there was more in it against Germany? “Thats easy to say now, but yes. Things were difficult in the first half, difficult,” says Van Dijk to the CCeit. “In the second half, we did well after the first ten minutes. It was a physically tough match that asked many of the players. As a result, the spaces became a bit larger, that also played a role. We played really well for half an hour. They analyzed our match against Denmark well.”
“You want to play against the best countries and measure yourself, especially friendly. So that was no different now. Germany has a great team, in every line. You saw that at times, but in the last half hour we played very well,” says Van Dijk.
“I am satisfied with these ten days, in which we trained hard and had a lot of meetings. Were going to put it down well again in June. Go to the club now. It will be a very important month when everything can still happen. Recover first now.”
