Club Brugge has taken an important step towards title prolongation after an orange Jupiler Pro League topper against Anderlecht. Thanks to Noa Lang, the reigning champion seemed to win from rival Anderlecht, came with 1-2 behind, but just before time got a point thanks to Dost.
Both clubs, together with Racing Genk and Royal Antwerp FC, had ended up in the top four of the regular competition and had therefore placed themselves for the season competition, in which the teams continued with half the number of points gained: Club Brugge stood sixteen points after 34 rounds. , but was only seven points ahead of Genk at the kick-off. At that kick-off, five Dutch people stood on the pitch: Stefano Denswil, Ruud Vormer, Bas Dost and Lang were in the base of the home team, while the eighteen-year-old goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen surprisingly made his professional debut on behalf of Paars-Wit.
Verbruggen passed through the first half damage free, but soon after the rest had to fish. Anderlecht lost the ball and Club Brugge switched quickly via Dost and Lang: 1-0. However, the guests did not know themselves and turned the backlog into a lead: Lukas Nmecha surprised Simon Mignolet, Jacob Bruun Larsen did the same out of a beautiful free kick.
Club, however, had the last word and could once again appeal to its Dutch enclave: just before the start of the injury period, it was Dost who shouted compatriot Verbruggen. Philippe Clements team keeps its rivals at bay: the lead on Racing Genk is eight points, with five rounds ahead.
