Overmars puts opponent and ‘real Aja’ Schöne

Before Ajax embarked on the Eredivision-season, one of the players of opponent NEC was put in the spotlight. The Amsterdammers took the opportunity to thank Lasse Schöne for proven services.
The 35-year-old Dane left for Genoa, Italy in 2019, after seven years of Ajax. Last season he showed up at sc Heerenveen, but Schöne is playing again in the Johan Cruijff Arena for the first time on Saturday. Director of Player Policy Marc Overmars thanks him for his contributions. Youve been a special player for Ajax. Seven years and every year you actually got better.
In Schöne
s last full Ajax season, 2018/2019, Ajax won the double and reached the Champions League semifinal. Will he make it this year? Will he end up in the couch? No, you came back and you came back stronger. That has surprised us and that draws your mentality, Overmars says. I think youre a real Ajax member for the supporters.
Ajax and NEC kicked off at 9 pm. For the Nijmegen, it
s their first Eredivision-game in four years.

Were proud of you and the supporters too. 🙏 #ajanec pic.twitter.com/wwruoafvxw
