Patient who played guitar during brain surgery died

Jelle van Tilburg, who, in May of last year, made a surprise by playing guitar with his own brain surgery, died this weekend.

Thats what his wife Kim announced on Facebook.

The man from Bergen op Zoom heard early last year that he had a malignant tumor in his head. In May he was operated by a neurosurgeon at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, reports Rijnmond.

Jelle had the whole operation recorded on video and tried to keep playing guitar on the operating table. In doing so, he hoped to raise money for further research into the nature of his condition.

That was not easy, but it gave him the necessary publicity and almost 15,000 euros for his charity.

Despite the surgery, Jelle hasnt been allowed to live very long. Hes 35 years old.
