PEC is done after defeat in Emmen: trainer Stegeman on idle

PEC Zwolle intervened after the defeat at fenkkensluiter FC Emmen from Saturday evening. Trainer John Stegeman has been put on idle, making De Blauwvingers known through the official channels.

Stegeman was supposed to leave at the end of the season, but has to make room even earlier than planned. PEC is leading the disappointing sporting performance of recent weeks as a reason. The nine Eredivisie matches of 2021 resulted in one victory: only against Willem II won the full pound. The defeat at Emmen, which was still without victories until Saturday, turned out to be the drop that overflowing the bucket.
The current number thirteen of the Eredivisie is now looking for a successor for Stegeman. The name of Gertjan Verbeek already sang around Zwolle in recent weeks. In any case, PEC tells us that it is hoping to present the new head trainer soon: it is not yet known who will be sitting on the couch on Friday during the home duel with sc Heerenveen.
Stegeman worked successfully at Heracles Almelo in the past, worked at Go Ahead Eagles in the 2018/2019 season and then made the striking step towards archrival PEC. He was never uncontroversial in Zwolle: Stegeman caused a car accident in his first season while driving under the influence, and stood with PEC just above the demotion stop when the Eredivisie season was shut down.
