Marcus Pedersen speaks of an early Christmas gift that Orange gave Norway. Feyenoords right-back thought his country would not have a chance at the World Cup anymore, but then Montenegro scored twice.
The Norwegians got it all along and celebrated. “Of course we were happy when they made the 2-2,” says Pedersen during Rondo at Ziggo Sport. “We did get a boost from that. You gave us an early Christmas present.”
It didnt look forward to that after Norways game itself. “We were very disappointed after our match against Latvia, because we should have won it and we deserved it,” says the fullback. “When we saw that the Netherlands was 0-2 ahead, we thought it would be difficult, but now we have hope again.”
In De Kuip, the stadium where Pedersen plays his home games, the Scandinavians will have to win to go to Qatar. That will happen without Haaland, although Pedersen jokes that Orange should be careful anyway. “Im trying to give him some pills so he can play anyway…”
