Kenneth Perez believes that Ajax cannot speak of a top season. The Amsterdammers grabbed the unofficial Eredivisie title on Sunday afternoon after a 2-0 victory over AZ, but the achievements in Europe were disappointed. The ESPN analyst is critical.
“For me, its not a top season. The quarterfinals of the Europa League, with the opponent they had… That is a damper for Dutch football and for Ajax, that they did not get through it. A smet on the season”, says Perez at ESPN Football Talk.
“Of course, they have become champion (unofficially, red.), they have taken the cup with many difficult matches towards the final. European they either want to overwinter Champions League, or go very far in the Europa League. Quarterfinals, is that far? One round too little I think”, Perez is critical.
The ESPN analyst makes the comparison with AZ, the opponent of last Sunday. “If you as a club spend more money on brokers than what AZ has in budget… Then we will go towards a Bayern Munich scenario.”
