In the village of Poortvliet in Zeeland, a large fire raged at a pig farmer. Pigs died in the fire. The Zeeland Safety Region does not yet know exactly how many animals are dead.
Last night the fire broke out at the farm. A barn containing two stables was completely on fire when the fire brigade arrived.
The fire brigade managed to prevent the fire from spreading to another barn with two stables. They also tried to ventilate the stables as well as possible in order to save as many animals as possible. Divided over the four stables were about 7000 pigs.
Around 01.30 the fire brigade reported that the fire was under control
