Plan for rewarding Swiss who persuade others to coronavirus

Swiss who persuade friends, colleagues or family members to get vaccinated against the coronavirus should be rewarded with a voucher. Swiss Health Minister Alain Berset proposed that. He said the measure could help increase vaccination rates.

According to health service figures, 58.46 percent of Swiss are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. The authorities consider that, based on this percentage, it is too early to lift a number of corona measures, such as the obligation to wear a face mask in public transport.

According to Bersets proposal, people who persuade another person to get vaccinated will receive a voucher worth 50 Swiss francs (46 euros). That voucher could be used for example the cinema or a restaurant.

A final decision on the plan may follow in mid-October. The proposal has to be raised first in the cantons.
