‘Played shortly with Ajax, but it took everything I learned to Leeds’

Pascal Struijk has made himself a valued Premier League power with a detour, but is still grateful for his education at Ajax. The Belgian Deurne born defender traded the ADO Den Haag course for Ajax in 2016 and left for Leeds United two years later, but still benefits from his Amsterdam years.
Struijk debuted with Leeds United in the Championship, then promoted to the Premier League and also played well at the highest level, as a defender and as a controlling midfielder. โ€œI think my Ajax education has contributed to my position play and ball control,โ€ he tells the official Leeds United channels. โ€œI haven‘t played long, two years only. But I did become a better player and I took everything I learned there to the next destination. And that was Leeds.โ€
Meanwhile, Struijk has his first season among the English football elite. That tastes like more, he lets you know. โ€œI would love to tap the same level as Virgil van Dijk, Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong.โ€ An international career on behalf of the Orange would be obvious, but it is still the question whether it comes to this: Struijk can also come out on behalf of Belgium and has already been in contact with coach Roberto Martรญnez. โ€œBelgium is always an option for me,โ€ says Struijk, who has not yet made a final decision. โ€œI think everyone is walking their own path and I’
m still looking for mine right now.โ€
