Player Canadian team reveals she’s transgender

A soccer player of the Canadian women’s team announced on Instagram that she is transgender. 25-year-old Rebecca Quinn writes that she has been living as a transgender with her loved ones for years, but “always wondered when her public coming-out would be.

Quinn wants to show with her coming out lhbti’ers that they are not alone. And she calls on everyone to show more understanding for the lhbti community on social media.

Midfielder Rebecca Quinn is one of the most prominent North American athletes who have revealed their transgender identity. She competed for Canada at the World Cup in France last year. She also won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with the Canadian team in 2016.

Quinn is under contract to the OL Reign club in Washington State. She is currently leased to the Swedish Vittsjö GIK.
