Player report: hard imperfections for Orange, De Boer shares in malaise

The Dutch team once again experienced a dramatic evening visiting Turkey. It rains imperfections for Orange after the tough 4-2 defeat in Istanbul at the start of the World Cup qualification.
Tim Krul โ€” 4,5: he had to replace Cillessen at the very last moment, but wont have much fun with the duel. The first two countergoals were out of his fault, and at the third and fourth he was surprised a little too easily. He certainly didnt take his chance…
Kenny Tete โ€” 5: For the first time since March 2019, Tete was in the Dutch team. The rightback clearly had to get used to. Especially offensive he managed to contribute far too little and defensively it was not as convincing as you are used to from him.
Matthijs de Lit โ€” 6: Also De Lit played in Oranje due to injury eleed for more than a year. Other than his unfortunate role in the opening goal โ€” again that hand โ€” he was unyielding. He thought for rest to make the 2-1, but the arbitration was deaf to his screams.
Daley Blind โ€” 5: The Ajax routinier initially had a good time, but against the organized Turks he could not show his qualities at the ball. Moreover, his cross spasses were not always tailor-made.
Owen Wijndal โ€” 5: The Azer may be the back of the future for Oranje, the duel with Turkey showed that there is still some work to be done.
Marten de Roon โ€” 4,5: De Roon works hard and helped the Turks a few times. But because the host country withdrew far, the breakwater of Atalanta came to the ball a little too often. And it is clear that De Roon contributes little.
Georginio Wijnaldum โ€” 4,5: the captain played very little against the Turks. Wine aldum has proven to be a very useful player, but if he has to pull the cart and come up with the solutions, it
s a different story. Inconveniently caused the free kick, from which the 4-2 fell.
Frenkie de Jong โ€” 5,5: The midfielder of FC Barcelona is supposed to be the director of Orange, but against the tough Turks he couldnt find the opening either. De Jong was simply not dominant enough.
Steven Berghuis โ€” 4,5: Just like Malen, Berghuis (still) struggles to make a difference at this level. He often offered himself, got the ball, but the continuations were meager to put it mildly.
Memphis Depay โ€” 4: Memphis is the star player and he should take Orange by hand on these kinds of evenings. He tries it too, but his actions were not successful and the purity left a lot to be desired. His missed penalty was drawing.
Donyell Malen โ€” 4: He had two good actions in the opening phase, but his shots were too weak. Grinding could hardly leave his mark further. To make it worse, he caused the Turkish penalty, after being wrongly drafted.
Luuk de Jong โ€” 6: De Jong did what he had to do as a crowbar. He made it difficult for the goalkeeper and was at the base of the 3-2.
Denzel Dumfries โ€” 5,5: The PSV captain had to give surprising priority to Tete, but in the last 20 minutes he didn
t get the chance to prove otherwise.
Davy Klaassen โ€” 6,5: The assumption… Thanks to Klaassen, Oranje was allowed to hope for a comeback.
Patrick van Aanholt – x: Played too short for a review.
Ryan Gravenberch – x: Played too short for a review.
The BondScoachFrank de Boer โ€” 4: The Dutch team had a lot of bad luck with the counterhits, but that does not mean that the defensive organisation regularly rattled and the pressure took place without conviction and coordination. And how many opportunities did Orange create at all? There werent many. His bills, on the other hand, worked out excellent, for which half a point extra.
