The hospitals in India are full. And anyone who can go to a hospital will have to wait and see if enough oxygen and medical equipment is available there. Mortuaries can‘t handle the number of deaths anymore.
How did it get to this far? India quickly introduced a strict lockdown last year, but relaxed it too early. The country let go of all the reins. But it is possible that the infectiousness of the Indian variant of the coronavirus also plays a role.
