Podcast The Day: how fishing became a brexit stumbling block

This week the brexit negotiations continue. Because of corona it has been much less about it lately, but an exciting phase is beginning: a trade agreement has to be in place before the end of the year. So far, the talks on this are stuck and one of the biggest stumbling blocks is fishing.

CCeit correspondent Tim de Wit visited a fishing village in the southeast of England. Fishermen there hope that after 1 January they will be able to fish in British waters as much as they like and that old, golden times will revive, he says in podcast De Dag. But how realistic is that? And what does it mean for Dutch fishermen if the brexit negotiations fail and they will indeed no longer be allowed to fish in British waters?
