Everyone was very nervous during the very first broadcast of the CCeit Radio 1 Journaal on September 1, 1995. Computer systems that didn’t work properly, connection problems, colleagues behind the scenes who didn’t know each other very well and above all the broadcasting policy that played in the background and caused extra pressure. But once the head was off, it ran like a train. What followed was a quarter of a century of news moments in which the programme was always present.
In podcast De Dag, editor-in-chief Wolter Blom and presenter Jurgen van den Berg tell what’s involved in making such an iconic programme.
