Podcast The Day – What makes Navalny dangerous for Putin

The Day Russia expert Helga Salemon talks about the investigation that the Russian opposition leader Navalny has been doing for years into corruption by Russian rulers and how this is causing problems for the elite. He works with a large team that, according to her, gets all kinds of explosive information up to the surface in a very clever way. In addition to this ‘journalistic‘ work, over the years Navalny has increasingly profiled himself as a politician that the Kremlin can no longer ignore.

Aleksey Navalny has been in a hospital in Berlin since this weekend after he became unwell during a domestic flight in Russia on Thursday. His employees think he has been poisoned. Navalny has been thwarted in various ways before and it is certainly not the first time something has happened to enemies of the Kremlin. In the podcast we look at various things that are reminiscent of what happened to Navalny now.
