Pol van Boekel deployed for the second time in 91 days at European Finals

Pol van Boekel will be deployed for the second time in 91 days in a European final battle on Sunday. The Vierlingsbeek arbiter will be part of the VAR team during the Nations League final.
UEFA has announced the referee appointments for the France and Spain match. Van Boekel is the only non-Englishman of the eight officials involved. Anthony Taylor leads the game, Stuart Atwell is the head VAR and Chris Kavanagh, Lee Betts and Van Boekel are his assistants. Kavanagh, Betts and Van Boekel will also join the German Marco Fritz earlier on Sunday, during the consolation final between Italy and Belgium.
Van Boekel played a similar role in the EC final between Italy and England last summer. During the semi-final between England and Denmark, he was already behind the scenes, but that was not appreciated by everyone. England then made it through a debatable penalty in the extension and a storm of criticism erupted afterwards.
