Pole vaulting Duplantis impresses in Lausanne

Pole pole vaulter Armand Duplantis remains unbeatable in 2020. At the Diamond League match in Lausanne he won his twelfth match in a row. With a jump of 6.07 meters Duplantis kept world champion Sam Kendricks (6.02 meters) behind him in the Swiss open air.

At last year‘s World Championships in Doha both went over 5.97 meters and that gave the 27-year-old Kendricks his second world title (he needed fewer jumps) and the 20-year-old Duplantis the silver. In Lausanne Duplantis skipped four heights and made no mistake up to and including his winning jump. With that he immediately had the best jump of 2020 and a Swedish record.

Earlier this year Duplantis jumped a world record of 6.17 meters in Torun (Poland) and then improved it by one centimeter in Glasgow. That last jump still has to be officially recognized by the international athletics federation IAAF.
