Square Enix shared the technical details of Final Fantasy XIV for PlayStation 5, open testing of which will begin tomorrow. As the developers note, MMORPG players on PS4 will have access to their content on PS5, while beginners will only be able to start their journey – they will be given free content from the trial version of the project, which includes part A Realm Reborn and the Heavensward extension. But with the quality of the picture there are interesting details: on the PS5 it will be possible to choose 1080p, 1440p and 4K as native resolution.
In the case of the first two promise stable 60 FPS in “normal game mode”, whereas in 4K – only about 40 frames per second. The debut trailer of the game on PS5Also Square Enix managed to introduce DualSense features: scale used reverse returns and at some points even screwed support for adaptive triggers for first-person episodes.
The FF XIV team also said that it worked to improve the quality of the interface – initially it was completely created for 720p, but on the PS5 it works in much higher resolution. To do this, the developers also used neural networks, and some of the elements were improved manually.
In addition to the quality of images in the interface, developers note improved fonts for 4K among other improvements for the PS5 note fast downloads and use of 3D sound. Open testing of Final Fantasy XIV will last several months — most likely it will end with the release of the story expansion Endwalker.
