Paris Saint-Germain is moving further away from title prolongation. The winner of seven of the last eight Ligue 1 editions was surprised at home by AS Monaco on Sunday evening: leader Lille won earlier on Lorients day and is now four points ahead of PSG.
The team of Mauricio Pochettino had made a big impression against FC Barcelona during the midweek, but started a lot less energetic with El Cashico, as the clash between the most capital clubs in France is also called. Number four Monaco got ahead of the number three early. Ruben Aguilar brought the ball for the goal and Sofiane Diop gave the last push: 0-1.
The hosts had to remain guilty of the answer and allowed themselves to be surprised early in the second half. Guillermo Maripán put pressure on Ander Herrera in the penalty area of PSG and placed the ball out of the range of Keylor Navas: 0-2. Not long after that, Moise Kean left a golden chance in the connection hit, while Kevin Volland failed to help Monaco get a third hit. However, no more scored was scored, so the points went with them to the Grand Duchy.
So, Ligue 1 wolverine PSG must seriously fear that it will end without a national title this season. Lille is four points away, number two Olympique Lyon — which won on Friday at Stade Brest — stands one point ahead. The Parisians have twelve more matches to turn the tide.
